Erie Locomotive 3355 & support crew .(1st row, 3rd from left, is identified as Domenic "Mickey" Mauro an inspector assigned to the Hornell yards)   We are told that this happened in the '60s when a string of locomotives exited the rear of the Erie Shops. After the equivalent of a "brake failure", the only thing preventing the engine from going into the Canisteo River was the weight of the locomotives connected behind it. It is also believed that William Peisher of Hornell was at the controls. And from the other side of the river!
