DONALD PAUL FLANAGAN
HORNELL -
Donald Paul Flanagan, 62, of 6242 Gypsy Hill Road, Hornell, passed away
unexpectedly on Wednesday (Nov. 17, 2004) at his home.
Born in Hornell on Jan. 14, 1942, he was the son of Paul F. and Carrie E.
(Dunn) Flanagan. Don was a lifelong resident of Hornellsville, and a
graduate of Hornell High School (Class of 1960). He was a dairy farmer,
working the Flanagan Bros. Dairy Farm for many years.
Don was an avid outdoorsman, and lived for deer season and fishing. He was
a member of the NRA, and loved nothing better than having the whole family
get together. He was especially proud of the gathering for the farm's
100th anniversary, that was held in July of 2003. Diabetes never slowed
him down much, and he was still active in the day to day operation of the
farm. He will be sadly missed by his family, and his hunting buddies.
He was married on Aug. 17, 1963 to the former Betty Margeson, who
survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Norah Flanagan of Hornell,
Mary (James) McCormick of Almond, Carrie (Dean Watson) Flanagan of Ward;
his sons with whom he worked the farm, Paul Flanagan of Hornell and Donald
(Roxanne Davis) Flanagan of Hornell; his grandchildren, Chelsea Flanagan,
Morgan Watson, Justin Schenck, Tyler Schenck, Erin Flanagan, Madison
McCormick, Grant Watson, and Brent Flanagan; his brothers, Richard (Cindy)
Flanagan of Bath, and John Flanagan of Rochester; his uncle, Louis
Flanagan of Hornell; his aunts, Ellen Tuttle of Hornell, and Ruth Terlesky
of Walden, Colo.; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Don's family requests that memorial contributions in his name be made to
the American Diabetes Association, 20 Ramona St., Rochester, NY 14613.
