Jane (Carney) LaChiusa

      HORNELL - Jane (Carney) LaChiusa, 80, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 8, 2004) at her home at 8 Washington St.

Born in Hornell on March 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles "Carl" and Hazel True Carney.

A graduate of Hornell High School, Jane resided in San Diego, Calif., from 1955 to 1984, where she was employed by the Pacific Bell Telephone Co. until her retirement in 1984. After retiring, she resided in Palo Verde, Calif., until returning to Hornell in 1994.

Jane was a member of the Hornell High School Alumni Association and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening as well as sewing, doing crossword puzzles and spending time at her computer.

Her family includes her two sons, Timothy (Melody) LaChiusa of Hornell and Steven (Mary) LaChiusa of Clermont, Fla.; her 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and her nephew, Carl "Gus" (Katherine) Carney of Plattsburg.

Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her brother, John "Jack" Carney in 1993; her niece, Mary Carol Carney Strobel in 1991, and Carol's husband, John Strobel in 2004; also her cousin, Mary K. Day in 1995.

Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Hornell.
