STEVEN E. "MURR" MOREY

HOWARD - Steven E. “Murr” Morey, 39, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 12th, 2002.

Born in 1962 to Frank E. and Shirley E. (Watson) Morey, Jr., of Hornell, he was a 1980 graduate of Hornell High School, a student at Alfred State College, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Steven had been employed as a mason for many years with the Javin Construction Co. in Rochester and at the time of his passing, he was employed as a “chemical lab technician” with Corning, Incorporated, in Corning.

An avid outdoorsman, he “loved” hunting and fishing and could always be found “outside” doing something. From 1993 to 2002, Steven was the grounds and building caretaker at Camp Rathbun (Lake Demmon) and ran the “Woodchuck” derby for the years he was there. In his off time, Steven could often be found fishing in Lake Demmon as well as spending time with his two sons.

Stephen is survived by his parents; two sons, Jayson Morey of Canisteo and Casey Morey of Honeoye Falls; three sisters, Sandra Kuykendall and Lisa Morey, both of Hornell, and Sherry Yackoff of West Henrietta; and a brother, Scott Morey of Howard.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Robertson Funeral Home in Hornell with internment in the Forest Hills Cemetery.
