HORNELL - William C. Bartlett, 70, of 34 Taylor St., died Saturday (Aug. 14, 2004) at the Bath VAMC.

Born in Hornell, Nov. 9, 1933, a son of Richard and Angie Sprong Bartlett, he had resided in Hornell most of his life.

Bill was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1952. He had served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Bill had been employed for the Hornell City School District as superintendent of buildings and grounds, retiring in 1989.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Jane Bartlett, on July 25, 1995.

He is survived by one son, Richard (Rose) Bartlett of Hornell; one sister, Susan (William) Shull of Hornell; two brothers, David (Sandy) Bartlett and Charles Bartlett of Hornell; two granddaughters, Shelby Bartlett and Nicole Hayes; mother-in-law, Stella Hunt of Bath; sister-in-law, Joanne Mastin of Hornell; several nieces and nephews.

At Bill's request there will be no public calling hours or funeral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Hornell.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell.
