HHORNELL Ė Basil Guidara of 112 River Street, Hornell, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. James Mercy Hospital this morning (March 18, 1963) after being taken there by city ambulance. He was 68 years old.

Born in St. Angelo, DiBrolo, Sicily in 1894, he came to the United States in 1909 and lived in Hornell for 50 years. He was a veteran of World War I, serving overseas with the Army.

 He was employed by the Erie Railroad for 20 years until his retirement as a machinistís helper in 1937. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Dugo Guidara; a son, Francis C. Guidara, at home; his mother, Mrs. Marie Guidara, in Italy; and two brothers, Joseph Guidara of Alliance, Ohio, and Michael Guidara, in Italy.

Internment was in St. Maryís Cemetery, Fremont.





ALTOONA, Pa. Ė Mary M. Guidara, 85, of Valley View Home, formerly of Hornell, N.Y., died Thursday evening (May 25, 1995) at Mercy Hospital in Altoona.

 Born July 2, 1909, In Italy, the daughter of Angelo and Sylvia Torrense Dugo, she was married June 24, 1933, at St. Annís Church in Hornell to Basil Guidara, who died in 1963.

 She and her husband owned and operated Basilís Cash Store in Hornell for many years.

 She was a member of St. Annís Catholic Church.

 Survivors include a son, Francis C. of Altoona; one step-grandson; two step-great-grandchildren, and a brother, Francis Dugo of Hornell.

 She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Dominic.

Internment was in St. Maryís Cemetery, Fremont.
