Ruth B. (Flanagan) Terlesky

(1929 - 2006)

WELLINGTON, Colo. - Ruth B. (Flanagan) Terlesky, 76, of Wellington, Colo., passed away Saturday (Jan. 14, 2006) at Poudre Valley Hospital, following a long battle with ovarian cancer, and is now in the arms of the Lord.

Ruth was born Dec. 5, 1929, to John Eugene and Gertrude Helen (McGrath) Flanagan in Hornell, where she grew up on the family farm and graduated from Hornell High School. Ruth enjoyed riding her horse “King,” and was a member of the Canisteo Valley Riding & Driving Club.

She married Joseph Peter Terlesky on July 2, 1955, in Hornell, and he predeceased her on Dec. 24, 1979. During their marriage, they lived in many places while Joe was in the Air Force. During that time, Ruth was a homemaker and mother.

She moved to Colorado in August 1983, and was a cook at the Elkhorn Café in Walden for 18 years. In 2003, she moved to Wellington, Colo., where she was a volunteer, member and kitchen manager at the Wellington Senior Resource Center. Being a devout Irish Catholic, she was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hornell and St. Ignatius Church in Walden. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting “Beanie Babies,” hanging with Garrett (her little guy), collecting rocks, planting flowers and her front porch swing where she loved to watch the world go by.

The highlight of Ruth's life was the birth of her great-granddaughter, Madison, in November 2005.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Joe Terlesky of Walden, Colo., and Patrick Terlesky (Lu) of Wellington, Colo.; daughters, Connie MacNaughton of Wellington, Colo., and Rose Tracy (Philip) of Cheyenne, Wyo.; beloved brother and sister, Louis Flanagan and Ellen Tuttle of Hornell; grandsons, Robert MacNaughton (Sheree) and Cory MacNaughton, both of Wellington, Colo.; and great-granddaughter, Madison Lynn MacNaughton of Wellington, Colo. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband; brothers, Paul, Francis, Gene, Leo, Ray and Bob; and sisters, Rita and Alice preceded her in death.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Allnutt Riverside Chapel, 1530 Riverside Avenue, Fort Collins, Colo. Deacon Warren Lybarger will officiate. Interment was in the Highland Cemetery, Wellington, Colo.
