Harold F. Heers

(Husband of Audrey below)

(1920 - 1986)






ST PETERSBURG, FLORIDA  -  Harold F. Heers,  65, formerly of 76 East Main Street, died Sunday (Mar. 9, 1986) at the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, Bay Pines, Florida.

Born in Hornell, Oct. 4, 1920, son of Harold and Cecil Heers, he had resided in Hornell until 1968 when he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida.  He was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1938. He served in the US Army during World War II.

Harold was employed for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad as a brake inspector and short-order cook on the wrecking crew; and in later years, as a freelance carpenter until retirement.

He was survived by his wife of 44 years, Audrey McMichael Heers (deceased Feb, 05).  He is survived by four sons, Roger (Betty) Heers, Jacksonville, FL; Richard (Judy) Heers, Immokalee, FL; Darryl (Patricia) Heers of Phelps, NY; David (Amy) Heers, St. Petersburg FL; three daughters, Sandy (Bill) Hall, St. Petersburg Beach, FL; Susan (Marvin) Drake of Canisteo, NY; Debbie (Larry) Gluck of Cape Coral, FL; one brother, Roger (Marilyn) Heers of Hornell; one sister-in-law Ruth McMichael Shaw of Almond, NY; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Harold was a former member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in North Hornell and Suncoast Cathedral in St. Petersburg, Florida.  He will be remembered for his commitment to God, and to his family.

Audrey McMichael Heers

SEMINOLE, FLORIDA  -  Audrey McMichael Heers of Seminole, Florida passed away Friday, February 25, 2005 after a short illness.  Born June 28, 1922, Audrey was the daughter of Edwin and Maude McMichael.  She married Harold in 1941.   Together, they had 44 wonderful years of marriage and seven children.  Harold predeceased her in 1986. 

 Audrey graduated from Alfred-Almond Central School, Class of 1940.  She was church pianist at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, North Hornell and Seminole First Baptist Church.

 She loved bright, flashy colors; card games with her friends and family; and Friday night Bingo.

Roger Lee Heers

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA  -  Roger Lee Heers, 66, of Jacksonville, died Friday (Dec. 5, 2008) after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.  

Born 29 July 1942 in Hornell, New York, he was the son of Harold and Audrey (McMichael) Heers. Roger graduated from Hornell High School, Class of 61. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Roosevelt and was deployed to the Gulf of Tonkin. 

He was employed by the city of Jacksonville and after retirement enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguar fan, was an excellent cook and enjoyed tailgating at their home games.

In 1967 he married Betty Barnes, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Eric and Daniel (Heather) and one daughter, Meschell, all of Jacksonville; brothers, Richard (Judy) Heers of Immokalee, Fla., Darryl (Pat) Heers of Phelps, and David Heers of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Sandy (Bill) Hall of Isle of Capri, Fla., Susan (Marvin) Drake of Canisteo, and Debbie (Larry) Gluck of Cape Coral, Fla.; uncle, Roger (Marilyn) Heers of Lima; aunt, Ruth McMichael Shaw of Almond and step-granddaughter, Cheryl Heers.
