Joseph C. Beaver

(1939 - 2005)






HORNELL - Joseph C. Beaver, 65, of 480 Maple City Drive, joined his parents and brother Frank after passing away at 9:16 a.m. Friday (June 10, 2005) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following surgery.

Born in Hornell, July 13, 1939, the son of John and Loretta McCarthy Beaver, he had resided in Hornell his entire life. He was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1957, and received his registered nursing degree from St. James Hospital School of Nursing in 1982. Joe was employed as a forklift operator from 1960 to 1975 and enjoyed a nursing career from 1982 until his retirement in 2002. He had worked locally at St. James Hospital and the Steuben County Health Related Facility in Bath. Following his retirement, he worked for the Green Thumb Program. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Hornell.

Joe, an avid Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, loved classical music and especially enjoyed playing drums and traveling. He will be remembered for the pride he had in his family.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Hilyard Beaver, with whom he celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past May 14; one daughter, Cynthia (Larry) Fairman of Canisteo; two sons, Erich "Rick" (Penny) Beaver of Hornell and Stephen (Tammy) Beaver of Hornell; and two brothers, Jack (Kay) Beaver of Hornell and James (Mary Kay) Beaver of Hornell. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Danielle Fairman, Larry Fairman Jr., Hiliary (Mike) Woodward, Jeremy Fairman and Hannah Beaver; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Beaver and Allison Woodward; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
