Welcome to HornellHome.com, a merging of time and mutual memories. Our goal is to provide Hornellians and ex-Hornellians a virtual “community center”, a place where they can browse through time or through the beauty that surrounds our city. As an “interactive” site, our effectiveness in achieving this goal is only as good as the support we receive from our viewers in the form of photos and shared memories. Please help by participating! Contact us at the “comments” links to be found on most pages for details on how to submit photos, announcements, etc. Viewers are urged to visit our “HornellHome Site Index” to better understand what HornellHome.com has to offer and to locate what best suits their interests. HornellHome.com is a “voluntary site” dedicated to Hornell, its people, and its past. The space needed for this site was graciously donated by Vince Claude, Class of 1963, with all web design and maintenance provided by Jim LaMont, Class of 1961 and Sue VanOxx, Class of 1963! |

SUPPORT YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY
A must have for those interested in the history of Hornell, especially one giving a first person account of the Civil War.
Lt. Russell M. Tuttle was born in Almond in 1840, raised in Hornellsville, and a graduate of Hornellsville High School. After attending Alfred University and graduating from the University of Rochester, Lt. (to be) Tuttle enlisted in the 107th New York Volunteer Infantry in 1862. The book, shown above, is a printed version of the diary he kept throughout his service in the Civil War. Not only was the original manuscript of Lt. Tuttle's diary donated to the Hornell Public Library, they will receive a monetary donation for every book sold!
CLICK THE PHOTO ABOVE FOR MORE INFORMATION TO INCLUDE HOW TO ORDER THIS PUBLICATION ________________
As part of their on-going recognition of Hornell’s history, our Public Library is selling boxed sets of “historical note cards” with envelopes. Each note is imprinted with one of 4 early Hornell scenes. . . . click on the photo above for a view of each. Sets consist of 4 each of the scenes shown above with matching envelopes. Definitely a unique way to send a “thank you” note to an old friend! (click the photo above to enlarge) Sets can be obtained at the Library for a donation of $5. . . give them your support. Those not living in the Hornell area may order card sets by contacting the Hornell librarian at taycherta@stls.org for details. I'm told that arrangements for mailing card sets can be made.
