John C. Beck
GIRARD – John C. Beck, 77, formerly
of Beaver Falls, Pa., passed away Monday, Dec. 4, at his residence.
Mr. Beck was born July 17, 1929 to
the late Carl and Irene Gilbert Beck in Huntington, Ind. He worked
43 years as a general foreman for Erie-Lackawanna/Conrail and was
previously employed with Otis Elevator for five years.
He was a former member of the Girard
First United Methodist Church, the IBEW, American Legion, Hornell
N.Y. Master Mason-William Farr Lodge No. 672 F. & A.M., York Rite
Youngstown Chapter No. 93, Buechner Council No. 107 St. Johns
Commandery, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason, Active
member of Stage Crew, Sunrise Chapter No. 458 Eastern Star, past
Worthy Patron, past Treasurer and High Twelve of Youngstown.
John graduated from Hornell High
School in New York in 1947 and went into the U.S. Army in 1951 to
1953. He was on the advisory board for International Rainbow for
Girls and was a Grand Cross Recipient.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred
L. Green Beck, whom he married Dec. 31, 1968; his children, Thomas
(Norma) Grumley and Donald (Kathy) Grumley, both of Girard, Sandra
(Mike) Pasco of Warren, Susan Cavalier of Girard and Joan (William)
Bell of New Brighton, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son
John C. Beck Jr., and a sister, Mary Evelyn Upton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
with a Masonic service and Eastern Star Service at 8 p.m. Wednesday
at Blackstone Funeral Home, where services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday. Internment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
