RUTH (RHODES) EVANS

GREENVILLE, S.C.  - Ruth Rhodes Evans, 68, of Greenville, passed away at home Sunday (April 6, 2008) after a long illness.

A long time resident of Hornell, New York, Ruth was raised in the Hornell Children's Home and graduated from Hornell High School, Class of 1957. She was a devoted homemaker, an avid flea marketer, and a huge lover of animals.

 

Ruth was also an accomplished mime (pantomime artist) having performed all over the New York Southern Tier to include her most memorable performance at the Corning Glass Works around 1957 when she shared the stage with the famous clown Emmett Kelly.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Philip Evans; her son, Mark Evans (Jeanne) of Hinesville, Ga.; her daughter, Cindy Earnest of Summerville, S.C.; granddaughters, Kristin and Megan; grandson, Bryan; great-granddaughter, Hailey.

In lieu of flowers, any contributions can be made in her name to the Open Arms Hospice of Greenville and the ALS Association.

There will be no services per her wishes.
