NORTH HORNELL - Elizabeth G. “Tinky” Foreman of 5 Avondale Ave. passed away unexpectedly Monday morning (July 17, 2006) at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira.

Born in Hornell April 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Burdette and Margaret Ward Gardner. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Ellen R. Webster, on May 28, 2006.

A resident of Hornell and North Hornell for most of her life, Tinky was a former resident of Wellsville. She was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1943, and received a bachelor's degree from Bucknell University prior to completing a year fellowship in medical laboratory technology at Buffalo General Hospital.

She truly loved her job as a certified medical technologist and was employed at the former Bethesda Community Hospital in North Hornell and retired from St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.

Tinky was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell, and was a member of the Altar Guild of the church for many years. She also was a member of the Hornell High School Alumni Association.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, cross stitching, reading, and loved to be a spectator at her granddaughter Margaret's sporting events.

Her family includes her life long companion, Arthur Foreman of Arkport; three daughters, Carol Foreman of Poughkeepsie, Martha (William) Mostyn of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Mary (Thomas) Dugo of Elmira; her son, Dr. Thomas (Mary Jo) Foreman of Hornell; her nine grandchildren, Margaret Webster, who resided with her, Tom Foreman, Derek (Jenny) Foreman, Erin Foreman (Jared Kurtz), Brittany Head, Richie Head, Lindsay Butler, Emily Foreman and Julia Foreman; her five great-grandchildren; her two sisters-in-law, Rita Foreman of Hornell and June Foreman of Angelica; her nieces and nephews; also her best friend, Mary Ellen (Richard) Burnell of Wellsville.

There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet her family at Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell, where a Requiem Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20. Interment will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
